Q: Where are you located?
A: The Federal Courthouse in Albuquerque is
located at 333 Lomas Blvd., N.W.; the Federal Courthouse in Las Cruces
is located at 100 N. Church Street; The Federal Courthouse in Santa Fe is
located at 106 South Federal Place.
Q: What are your hours?
A:
8:30 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
1:00 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.Please note we are closed for lunch. Also, please check the holiday schedule under General Information on our website.
Q: When do the Las Cruces & Santa Fe UPS shipments get picked up?
A: UPS for Santa Fe and Las Cruces are packed and shipped between 2:00 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. If you want any documents received by Santa Fe and/or Las Cruces the next day, you must bring in the documents prior to that time.
Q: How do I become a member of the Federal Bar?A: There is an attorney admission form located on our website under Court Forms. Requirements are listed on the instructions page.
Q: What are the fees associated with the Federal Bar?
A: Admission to the Federal Bar is $176.00. Annual dues are $25.00, but it is recommended you contact the court as there may be a waiver of dues in any given year. There are no dues for year 2012
Q: Do you send out statements for annual dues?
A: No. There is a notice published in the January Bar Bulletin. Annual dues are due by January 31st of that year.
Q: How do I go about filing a civil case without an attorney (pro se parties)?
A: A pro se packet along with the Local Civil Rules is available at the Intake counter at each Federal Courthouse. When receiving your packet, you will also be advised that:
Q: What is required when filing a new complaint?
A: You must provide a civil cover sheet with
sufficient copies, a summons(es) and pay the filing fee.
Q: How many copies are required when filing new cases and documents for established cases?
A: For new case filings (civil
complaints), we require an original and two copies (asbestos case -
require three copies). For any pleadings filed thereafter, we require
an original and one copy.
Q: What is the filing fee for a civil matter?
A: $350.00
Q: What is your jury fee?
A: There is no fee to request a jury. Jury can be requested in the complaint or as a separate pleading.
Q: How much time do I have to respond to a motion or other pleading?
A: Please refer to the Federal Civil Judicial Procedure and Rules (Rule 6. Time), and/or Local Rule 7.4.
Q: Is your motion packet rule still in effect?
A: No. The motion packet rule was abolished as of July 1, 2002.
Q:.What is your fax number?
A: The fax number for Albuquerque is 505-348-2028; in Las Cruces please use 575-528-1425; and in Santa Fe, please use 505-988-6473.
Q: Can I fax file a document?
A: You can only fax file a document if you have an order by the Court to do so.
A: Yes. Once local counsel, who must electronically file the initial pleading and the $100.00 fee is paid, the out of state attorney will be able to electronically file to a New Mexico Case.
Q: How do you assign judges?
A: All New Mexico judges, including those in Las Cruces and Santa Fe, are randomly assigned to cases.
