Information for Psychologists and Psychiatrists

The United States District Court for the District of New Mexico is currently soliciting licensed Psychiatrists and Psychologists in the State of New Mexico to conduct psychiatric/psychological evaluations for defendants in federal custody. Evaluations are conducted in various detention facilities located throughout the State of New Mexico.

Please make note that when the Court issues an Order for Psychiatric/Psychological Evaluation, the Clerk's Office is responsible for scheduling an appointment with a psychiatrist or psychologist. A letter stating the defendant's name, case number, date, time and location of the detention facility where the evaluation is to be conducted is faxed to the doctor along with copies of the Complaint, Motion and Order for Psychiatric/Psychological evaluation.

· The psychiatric or psychological report must be completed within 30 days of performing the evaluation.

· Appointments cannot be changed unless prior approval is received from the United States District Court.

· Upon completion of the evaluation, the psychiatric/psychological report is provided to the United States District Court with a copy of the transmittal letter to the assigned judge.

Payment of service(s) will be administered through the Department of Justice or the Criminal Justice Act.
