Judge McFeeley was first appointed to the bench in September 1981. His current appointment as Chief Judge of the United States Bankruptcy Court, District of New Mexico, began January 1, 2006, and ends May 31, 2009.*  Judge McFeeley is also Chief Judge of the Bankruptcy Appellate Panel for the Tenth Circuit and has been since its inception in June, 1999. He is one of two judges in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Mexico.

*Designation as chief judge of the Bankruptcy Court rotates periodically.
